Darius Rucker :: Learn to live
Category: Music
Hey
ya'll most of the time I use Bareshare to download a artists music to
see if I like it. If I like it I most of the time will go and pay for
the real cd. The other day I was talking to a friend and we both agreed
we wanted to check out the new country cd from Darius Rucker . You
know, the master mind behind Hootie and the Blowfish. I found the songs
and downloaded them. After listening to the songs I decided that the cd
would be worth buying. I told my friend about some of the songs and how
I thought they would like the music too.The other day while in Walmart
I picked up the cd for about 12.45 after tax and while just hanging out
with my friend we listened to the music. (Shocked to know I have
friends now hu?)
Anyway, my friend told me that I was right,
they did like the music. Only one song off the cd we both agreed was
not as good as the rest. Don't get me wrong the song in question is
pretty but is just does not really fit in with the theme of the album.
Another reason we decided we did not really like the song was because,
even though Rucker might of thought that it was a good enough song, he
did not write it. Five months of my life was deeply emersed in the
music world, while drowning in the waters that I came to know and love,
I figured out that I like music writen by the artists better than the
music writen by someone else for the artist to sing. With that being
said most of the songs on the cd are co wrote with someone, that is far
better than him just singing stuff that someone else wrote all
together.
Track number 10 is the song I am talking about. "I
hope they get to me in time" is a song about a man trapped in a wreck
and while he's pinned inside his car he can see his life passing before
his eyes. It's a meaning full song but it just isn't something I
thought I would find on this cd.Mean while the rest of the songs on the
album keep up with the theme of the album. "Learning to live". A lesson
that we should all learn and that I myself is trying to learn everyday.
In a whole the album talks about the joys and the pains that one goes
though in life while also expressing that no matter what happens that
everything will one day be "alright". It also talks about how it's the
simple things in life that really are the best things in life. I sing
the praises of this former master mind of Hootie and the Blowfish gone
country. This album is well writen, put together and will be heavy
rotation between me and my friends that I have come to cling to in
light of personal mistakes.
Track one "Forever Road" is pretty
much about it says. A man's vow to walk down Forever Road with the one
he loves after he's come to see his mistakes. Track two "All I want" is
about a man who has pretty much given up on his relationship and just
wants to be left alone. The tune is up beat and happy just like track
one. Track three slows down a bit when he tells someone to "Don't think
I don't think about it." The mistakes one makes when walking away from
something that could have been real. Track four "Learn to live" talks
about life lessons that he was taught over the course of his life time.
It's a fun song that many can relate too if you know what to listen too.
Track
five, "If I had wings" slows things down for a heart stopping song
meant to make you pause and think about life and how caught up we can
become in all the bad things that can happen. It's a personal favorite
of a friend and makes me think about how things have been going. It's a
song that hits home in many ways. Vince Gill and Alison Krauss lend
their voices to make this tract one of the best of the album. Track six
"History in the making" is a wonderful touching song about taking a
chance on love and new relationship. Track seven is letting the world
know that everything's "Alright". The song lets you know that as long
as you have a few basics than you have everything you could ever want.
The simple things in life are the best things in life. Remember to be
thankful for what you have and don't worry about what you don't have.
"It
wont be like this for long" on track number eight is his most currant
release from this album. It reminds you to enjoy the moments you have
because true to the name of the song, "it wont be like this for long"
so love with while you can. Track number nine "Drinkin' and Dialin'" is
a funny little song about the effects of drinking and dialin rather
than drinking and driven. If you have ever had too much to drink and
then started calling people and you hear this song, you might just hear
yourself. Smile and be amused. Number ten "I hope they get to me in
time" is a song about a man pinned in a collision caused by a drunk
driver. While pinned behind the wheel of his car he sees his life
before his eyes. With the realisation that he has much still to live
for he prays for someone to get to him in time. Even though this is a
beautiful song, it's not co wrote or written by Rucker.
Number
eleven "While I still got time" is a song that is about a man who
decides to take the years he has left and become the man that his woman
needs and wants. If only more men where like this hmm? Twelve is the
song about a man who warns other men who reminds him of himself when he
was younger to "Be wary of a woman" like his because they wont be able
to help but to settle down. It's a sweet song. So in all this is a very
promassing album and could be the start of a very promassing career for
this talanted man. Only time will tell but I say, if you trust my
opinions then go get the cd, it's worth it. |
