Teacher

Subject: TEACHER

After being interviewed by the school administration, the teaching prospect said,

Let me see if I've got this right:

You want me to go into that room with all those kids, correct their disruptive behavior, observe them for signs of abuse, monitor their dress habits, censor their T-shirt messages, and instill in them a love for learning.

You want me to check their backpacks for weapons, wage war on drugs and sexually transmitted diseases, and raise their sense of self esteem and personal pride.

You want me to teach them patriotism and good citizenship, sportsmanship and fair play, and how to register to vote, balance a checkbook, and apply for a job.

You want me to check their heads for lice, recognize signs of antisocial be behavior, and make sure that they all pass the state exams.

You want me to provide them with an equal education regardless of their handicaps, and communicate regularly with their parents by letter, telephone, newsletter, and report card.

You want me to do all this with a piece of chalk, a blackboard, a bulletin board, a few books, a big smile, and a starting salary that qualifies me for food stamps.

You want me to do all this and then you tell me.................

I CAN'T PRAY?

***
my personal opinions
***

In America it was once believed that no matter what religion you are, you had a right and the freedom to decided how to worship. Now those rights are being taken away. In schools, students are no longer able to pray, why is that? Because it might offend someone who does not pray? But wait, are these not the same children or teens or young adults or teachers or parents or whoever, who can sit and watch tv where they do nothing more than sell sex? Hardly any of them that complain about others praying in schools make a fuss about whats on tv.

"TV you can turn the channel if it bothers you."

This is true but can you not also turn your head when someone prays? Can you not walk away?

"Why should I have to move or change what I am doing?"

Okay, but why should you have to turn the tv channel when someone gets there head cut off or when Cindy and Jason get a little wild on tv?

Think long and hard about that and get back to me okay? I would love to hear your opinion.

In addition to the lack of tolerance that is being bred in schools today is it any wonder that we end up with such hateful and spiteful adults? Hmmm I smell hate crimes in the making.

"Why should we have to put up with other races and there beliefs we where here first!"

This statement is only true if you are Native American. Not if you are mixed, or have a third left in your blood. If you are full blooded Native American than you can say this. Truth is the settlers who was looking for refuge from the Catholic Church fist showed up looking for a piece of land they could take over and start dictating over. Oh sure they said that all is welcome, but what they did not tell the others was that as soon as they came over they had to either conform or get out. They got out and now we are over flowing with so many religions that it's no longer funny.

Anymore questions? No? Good...

So as I was saying... So you can not pray in school because what? It offends people. Right, good. So smart. So what happens if you are a member of the kind of faith, religion or whatever, where it's code, law or whatever of your church that you mush pray before a meal or at times? I guess you are just out of luck hu? Say this is the case and someone is denied the right to follow law, code or whatever, and they tell there parents who in turn raise hell with the school. Then what happens? Either that kid is allowed to worship as dictated by his or her faith, is denied that right and parents take matter to court or is given that right and other parents become irate because this child is getting the freedom to do what he or she wants.

So many outcomes. Too many to list actually. Ignorance is a key problem with this country. Now the simple solution would be to ship these kids off to there own private school right? That would work but what about the ones who come from disadvantaged homes? You know it takes money to make anything work right? Money and greed go hand in hand, and it's not hard for churches to become so greedy they destroy themselves. But like I said, there is so many outcomes to list. I really don't have the time to list all of them right now.

Separation of School and Church: Tricky! Please see section above.

Now there is something else that has been bothering me and I want to take a moment to touch on before I go. The pledge of allegiance. You know at one time it was mandatory. Times are sadly changing and so now there is a choice, you can do it or not do it. Most wont because of the words, "Under God". How silly is that? The word "God" is the same no matter how you say it. A higher power that controls all things right? The only time this is not the same is if you are Wicca or pagan or anything of the like. But it is just a word, it will not kill you to say that. Say it, that does not mean you have to believe it. See that intolerance is shinning in again.

It is so sad to see what our country has come too.

"So what about you? What do you believe in?"

I believe there is a higher power that rules over everything. I believe in balance in everything. I believe that everyone should have a right to whatever they want to believe. I believe that everyone should be able to say whatever they wish to say as long as they believe it to be tactful and educated. To me, my opinions are educated, to others they may not be. But I have a right to my opinions as do everyone else. Do I pray? Sure. Might not be like everyone else, but I pray... And not just when I need or want something either.

I have nothing more to say for now.
